I’m looking forward to buying new gloves and a new toque of some sort this evening. If I can’t stop nature, and I must endure another winter in this city, I might as well try to do it with as little fuss as possible.
As is usually the case, I feel that I haven’t had enough time to do all that I wish to. For instance, there’s still that pile of books over a thousand pages tall to go through, and that’s not including the programming books I’ve been wanting to re-start. There’s also the three different art projects that I’d really love to get into so that I’ve got something to put up on that site apart from a placeholder page. It’s not that I need time away from work, I just need time to do the work I wish for.
Even when I do crude calculations beginning with lies such as “If I stop watching television…” or “If I just started…” things come out impossible, because the reality of the situation (as always) is that I just need to do the things I wish to do, and stop thinking about why I can’t yet do them.
Fortune favors the bold, and real artists ship.

As soon as it gets cold out (such as it is currently) I enjoy wearing scarves inside the apartment. Not because I feel any warmer, but because it’s a little bit of adventure.

I speak in a lot of circles and metaphors. In response to an email just a minute ago where someone described me as “metaphor man” I had to actually stop myself from using metaphor to describe why I’m this way.
It’s not a planned thing, I think it just makes my days and conversations with people far less boring (for me).

Although its meager popularity came and went long before I was aware of it, shoegaze / dream pop music is a fantastic listen. I don’t know who any* of the bands are/were, or what songs were ‘the best’ so it’s all just one big lovely cloud of perfume.
*I’m well aware of My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus & Mary Chain, but I’m talking about any other bands.
Seriously, just search YouTube for “dream pop” or “shoegaze” and pick a video at random. As genres, almost any track will make you think of walking through some sort of field full of little yellow flowers and holding hands with someone a little too young or too sweet, but that’s fine because it’s all some weird opium dream and you’ll wake up eventually.

I so often forget that while these drawings are so beautiful in form, they were mostly created for advertisements. Now turn on the TV, or look at any public ad (at a bus stop, for example), and see how long you wait to find anything even partially as well thought out or professionally crafted.
